What does our Fuel Economy Check include?

Recorded MPG

Combined, urban and extra-urban miles per gallon, where the spec or model table holds them.

Fuel type

Petrol, diesel or another fuel label, when it is on the same record.

By registration

The free report shows economy where the spec record holds it, alongside make, model, year, colour and fuel.

By model

Brand pages list recorded MPG by variant and year. A missing figure stays blank.

Not a tank test

These are published economy figures. They are not a measurement from filling the tank.

Not a cost calculator

The check does not estimate a yearly fuel bill or a saving.

What the MPG figures are

Model tables show combined, urban and extra-urban MPG where we hold them, with the fuel type and year. The free report shows economy for a registration when the spec record includes it.

These are published figures. They are not calculated from how far that car has travelled between fill-ups, and the page does not turn them into a fuel bill.

If the figure is missing

Some variants have no MPG on the record. The cell stays blank. Two versions of the same model can have different recorded figures, so use the row for the year and fuel type you mean.

Related checks

Recorded CO₂ is on the CO₂ emissions check. Power is on the BHP check. Tax status for a registration is on the car tax check.
