Ask the mechanic

A noise, a warning light, or a fault code.

How to use it

Tick the box, then describe the problem. Include the make, model and year if you know them. Ask the mechanic sends that message. A longer reply can take up to 20 seconds.

Each question stands alone. The next one does not remember the last. There is no account.

What you get back

A written suggestion of possible causes and things to check. If you quote a fault code, such as P0033, it will try to explain that code. It cannot see the car, plug into an OBD socket, or tell you the fault for certain.

Do not treat the reply as the last word on brakes, steering, airbags, or anything else that affects whether the car is safe to drive. If you are unsure, take it to a garage.

Separate checks, if you have the registration

The mechanic does not pull these in for you. They are different tools:

You describe the problem in the box. That message is sent to a language model, which writes a short reply about possible causes and checks.

It does not look up MOT, tax or service history for the car. Mention the make, model and year if you know them. Each question is answered on its own.

No. It can be wrong, and it cannot see the car.

A more specific question, with the make and model, usually gets a more useful reply. Treat it as a starting point, then get a garage to confirm anything that affects safety.

VehicleScore does not accept liability for work you do from the reply.

The box is there so that is clear before you ask. The tool does not replace a mechanic.
