The report

What does the report check?

Finance, write-offs, mileage and import records, including a car that came from the UK.

UK and Ireland in one check

A UK-imported car is covered in both countries. Enter the Irish plate or the UK plate it is still on.

Outstanding finance

The finance company, agreement type and start date, when a record is returned.

Write-off records

Insurance write-offs and Department of Transport damage records, when they are held.

Mileage, NCT and owners

Dated mileage readings, NCT and motor tax, owner counts and plate changes.

More records in the report

UK import history

Import country, import date and a previous plate, including a previous UK plate.

NCT and motor tax

NCT status, the due date and motor tax status when they are returned. This does not replace an NCT test, and it does not include a UK MOT.

Vehicle specifications

Make, model, fuel, engine, colour, VIN and registration dates. Equipment, emissions and warranty details appear when the provider includes them.

Earlier adverts

Advert text matched to this registration, when the provider has it. Photographs are not included in every report.

Demonstration data. The Mini is the public sample, not a car for sale and not a live check. Reports do not always include photographs.

Before you buy

Why check before buying?

A test drive and the registration certificate do not show every record held against an Irish car. The report is one place to read the records that are available.

Outstanding finance

A vehicle may still have finance recorded against it.

Previous damage

Discover available records of insurance write-offs and previous damage.

Mileage discrepancies

Identify potential inconsistencies in recorded mileage.

How it works

Three steps to the report

  1. 1. Enter the registration

Type the registration from the number plate. Irish plates look like 241-D-12345. UK plates look like BD63 SOE.

  2. 2. Confirm the vehicle and securely pay €24.99

We show the make and model before payment. The price is shown again before you pay. It is a one-off payment.

  3. 3. Open the car history report

After payment you can enter the current mileage in kilometres, or skip it. The report is prepared then. Finance records can take a short time, because that check runs after the order is placed. You can open the report on screen, and a link is emailed when it is ready. If the registration cannot be identified, the payment is cancelled or refunded.

Irish car history check questions

One car history report is €24.99. It can include outstanding finance, write-offs, mileage history, NCT and motor tax, previous owners, and UK and Irish import records. A section is filled only when a record is returned. Service history is a separate check. The report does not inspect the car, and a clear section is not proof that an event never happened.

Yes. Outstanding finance is requested after you pay. The result can name the finance company, the agreement type and the start date. It does not show how much is still owed. A UK registration is checked for finance records in the UK and in Ireland. Finance can take a short time to come back. A clear result means no outstanding finance was found in the records checked. It is not proof of finance clearance outside those records.

Yes. One check covers that car in the UK and in Ireland. An Irish plate can show the import country, the import date and a previous UK plate. A car still on a UK plate can be entered on this page as well. The check does not include a UK MOT. A mileage discrepancy is marked only if you enter a current mileage after payment.

It includes insurance write-off records and Department of Transport damage records when they are returned. If no matching record is returned, the write-off section is clear. That does not describe damage the records do not contain, and it does not replace looking at the car.

One report is €24.99. It is a one-off payment in euro, not a subscription. The same price is shown again at checkout before you pay.

After payment you can enter the current mileage in kilometres, or skip that step. The report is then prepared for the registration. Outstanding finance can take a short time because the supplier checks it after the order is placed. The report usually opens on the next screen. If it is still being prepared, you can try again in a moment. A link is emailed when the report is ready.

If the registration cannot be identified, the payment is cancelled or refunded and a report is not delivered. If the vehicle is identified but a section has no matching record, that section stays clear. A clear section does not prove that an event never happened.

Yes. Enter the Irish or UK registration, confirm the make and model, then pay. You do not have to go through the free score first. The free Irish car check is still there if you only want the vehicle and a score.
